About this depot

Ocean Legacy opened the 7 Mile Depot in February 2023 in partnership with the Regional District of Mount Waddington. It was the fourth Ocean Plastic Depot in British Columbia and the third on Vancouver Island.

The depot gives marine industries and shoreline cleanup volunteers on the North Island a place to divert collected debris from the landfill. Material gathered here is shipped to Ocean Legacy’s facility at Steveston Harbour in Richmond.
